Proxmox VE 7.4 with Improved Web Interface
Proxmox has released version 7.4 of its virtualization environment. The new version focuses on improved usability and brings countless management tasks into the web interface.
Proxmox is an HA- and cluster-capable open-source virtualization environment for running virtual machines and containers. It is based on the Debian distribution and can be administered via a web interface. Proxmox is developed by the Vienna-based Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH.
Technical Foundation and Software Versions
In the first quarter of 2023, Proxmox released version 7.3 of Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE). PVE is based on Debian Bullseye 11.6 and comes with Linux Kernel 5.15 LTS. KVM/QEMU is included in version 7.2 and LXC containers in version 5.0.2. Ceph Quincy is supported in version 17.2.5 Quincy and Pacific 16.2.11.
New Features and Improvements
Further new features include:
- Fully integrated dark mode in the GUI.
- Ceph OSD: The web interface and API now display detailed OSD information.
- Task logs can now be downloaded as text files in the web interface.
- Sorting of virtual guests: VMs or containers can be sorted by name or VMID by selecting the corresponding sort order.
- HA Manager: A new CRM command allows manually setting an online node to maintenance mode (without reboot). Additionally, in the Cluster Resource Scheduler stack, VMs and containers are now automatically rebalanced at startup, not only during recovery.
- Automatic HTTP to HTTPS redirect in the web interface.
- QEMU 7.2 fixes the issue with German Windows ISOs when installing VirtIO network card drivers.
